NON-AMERICAN?!

As I've mentioned before this blog will likely have a ton of work references and the ins and outs of Starbucks. Well this is just such a blog.

So for anyone who frequents the Bucks knows that there are THREE possible sizes when ordering. Correct?! Tall, Grande, and Venti. I will happily accept the equivalent, small, medium, and large. Ok, just so we know what's going on here, I'll tell you this story of an encounter I had with a gentleman the other day.

On a normal basis, I tend to deal with some rather angry and uninviting customers which is understanding due to the typical need for caffeine. So it's not too surprising that this man would have been any different.

When this man walked up, the man asked for a "regular cup of coffee." Being a barista, my natural reaction was, "yes sir, what size?" The man proceeded to say yet again, "a REGULAR cup of coffee!" I clamored that we have three sizes which apparently was the WRONG decision to make that day.

This man decided to curse and raise his voice and vigorously point to the Tall cups. I happily got him his coffee and handed it off saying "here is your SMALL cup of coffee...". His response was then to tell me that I
"need to learn English!!"
"Well thank you sir, but I can speak English just fine, I appreciate your concern."
"Well obviously you're not American, because EVERYWHERE in American, a 'Regular' cup of coffee is the smallest cup available."
"I'm sorry sir, but I've lived in Tx, born and raised in Dallas, my entire life, and never have I heard this before..."

The conversation went on for a brief moment with a strong sense of anger and passion from this terrible old man! Seriously, understanding the difference between what is offered at a coffee shop makes me UNAMERICAN?!

Oh well, for a moment I was rather enraged myself by the old fart, but such is life and I know he's not going to be the last unruly customer I'll ever have! Just thought I'd share this particular experience with my coffee fanatic friends!

Until next time...

NEWWWWW YORK CITY!!!!

Ahhhhhh the EXCITEMENT is overflowing in town today because I OFFICIALLY booked my very FIRST trip to The Big Apple!! I'm absolutely elated over the idea of going to the city of my calling!! I tell you, the big city and I are destined to be together one day, I can assure you of that! (If you've ever met me, you know that's as close to the real truth as one could possibly get)

On top of the excitement I have been working EXTREMELY hard on my NYR's!! I haven't TOUCHED anything from a fast food joint, I've limited my intake of sugars and salts, no diet sodas, and very very very little fried foods. (Only time really consumed was during a trip home for a funeral and the only food offered was literally FRIED chicken!) I've currently lost in the approximate range of 10-12 pounds, which surprisingly is right on target with my 10 pound/month goal!!! I'm GOING to be smoking for NYC and my 25th birthday this summer!!

Well this update is primarily for my dear dear friend Miss. Heather Cummings, seeing how she IS my ONLY follower currently, I only know of one person who actually reads the bloggage! LOVE YOU!! ;)

So that's all for now, so until next time....
