WOW!

OMG, it's seriously been this long since I've posted?! Man oh man!! Well not much has gone on in life, basically I'm working from before sunup until after sundown at 2 different jobs. It's good money, buuut I STILL don't have a car, so it kinda sucks walking all over town.

I'm finally seeing some progress for the future on a more positive note. My parents I think are finally understanding just how close I am to graduation and either getting a REAL job or going to grad school to get an even BETTER job!! They're even going to attempt to borrow money to help pay off some debt to get re-enrolled for my LAST semester in school!!! So on this one, we'll soon see...

I've recently started P90X to help get in shape, somehow. It's BRUTAL, but I have high hopes that it'll do some good!!

Not much else is going on these days other than hard work and sleep (and very little of the latter). I'll do my best to be better at this and keep my life better documented for those few faithful readers!

NON-AMERICAN?!

As I've mentioned before this blog will likely have a ton of work references and the ins and outs of Starbucks. Well this is just such a blog.

So for anyone who frequents the Bucks knows that there are THREE possible sizes when ordering. Correct?! Tall, Grande, and Venti. I will happily accept the equivalent, small, medium, and large. Ok, just so we know what's going on here, I'll tell you this story of an encounter I had with a gentleman the other day.

On a normal basis, I tend to deal with some rather angry and uninviting customers which is understanding due to the typical need for caffeine. So it's not too surprising that this man would have been any different.

When this man walked up, the man asked for a "regular cup of coffee." Being a barista, my natural reaction was, "yes sir, what size?" The man proceeded to say yet again, "a REGULAR cup of coffee!" I clamored that we have three sizes which apparently was the WRONG decision to make that day.

This man decided to curse and raise his voice and vigorously point to the Tall cups. I happily got him his coffee and handed it off saying "here is your SMALL cup of coffee...". His response was then to tell me that I
"need to learn English!!"
"Well thank you sir, but I can speak English just fine, I appreciate your concern."
"Well obviously you're not American, because EVERYWHERE in American, a 'Regular' cup of coffee is the smallest cup available."
"I'm sorry sir, but I've lived in Tx, born and raised in Dallas, my entire life, and never have I heard this before..."

The conversation went on for a brief moment with a strong sense of anger and passion from this terrible old man! Seriously, understanding the difference between what is offered at a coffee shop makes me UNAMERICAN?!

Oh well, for a moment I was rather enraged myself by the old fart, but such is life and I know he's not going to be the last unruly customer I'll ever have! Just thought I'd share this particular experience with my coffee fanatic friends!

Until next time...

NEWWWWW YORK CITY!!!!

Ahhhhhh the EXCITEMENT is overflowing in town today because I OFFICIALLY booked my very FIRST trip to The Big Apple!! I'm absolutely elated over the idea of going to the city of my calling!! I tell you, the big city and I are destined to be together one day, I can assure you of that! (If you've ever met me, you know that's as close to the real truth as one could possibly get)

On top of the excitement I have been working EXTREMELY hard on my NYR's!! I haven't TOUCHED anything from a fast food joint, I've limited my intake of sugars and salts, no diet sodas, and very very very little fried foods. (Only time really consumed was during a trip home for a funeral and the only food offered was literally FRIED chicken!) I've currently lost in the approximate range of 10-12 pounds, which surprisingly is right on target with my 10 pound/month goal!!! I'm GOING to be smoking for NYC and my 25th birthday this summer!!

Well this update is primarily for my dear dear friend Miss. Heather Cummings, seeing how she IS my ONLY follower currently, I only know of one person who actually reads the bloggage! LOVE YOU!! ;)

So that's all for now, so until next time....

Day ONE of a thousand...

So today has been just one of those absolute "Days from Hell!" I really feel like I should write my life into a book, it's actually quite interesting to the everyday domesticated bystander. I can honestly say that if there is such this as luck out there that mine is as a state of one of two places: 1. That in my life I have truly chosen the short end of the stick,
or
2. That my "luck" has yet to come about.
I never cease to amaze myself at the complex and not-so-complex situations I seem to either GET myself or PUT myself into.
Let's just start with the basics for anyone and everyone who so feels the desire to read about my less than adventurous life! I'm a 6th year senior, yes ladies and gentlemen, I indeed said 6TH!!, at Texas A&M University! I'm happy to have been here but I'm MORE than ready to move to NY or California and start fresh as who I AM!!
I currently, and for the past 2 years, have been employed at a Licensed Starbucks as a barista!! I love my job, for the sake of getting loads of free caffeine on a semi-regular basis, but typically HATE the trash that come in and pose as unassuming delightful customers! (Look forward to a blog about a day in the life of a barista in the future...)
That's pretty much the jist of my life at the moment. Yes I love to sing, paint, relax, workout, etc. whatever else you can imagine I could/would do in a college town as desolate of intriguing a population as this one! (GAG me, sometimes I wonder how I've managed to last this long...)

Just a brief example of the life that is ever-so completely stocked with the days from hell, today was a minimal trip through the burning pits....I don't literally mean HELL for anyone with concern, I do have faith, and one day know the He will repair what has been broken, I simply choose to illiterate the story with as vivid a description of my feelings as possible.

Today: January 26th, 2010
I'm am currently 26 days into my audacious New Years Resolutions of : 1. NOT eating fast food for a year, 2. NOT eating fried foods 3. Loosing 80 pounds by my 25th birthday in August, and all of course having little to NO clout during a vacation or Holiday of any kind..OF COURSE!
I've only lost, according to scales, approximately 6-10 pounds...yes this is indeed a great feat to accomplish, but something makes me feel less then so. I can only keep going, and I must tell myself that EVERYDAY!!

However I feel like maybe I should tack on a #4. Be NICER to people. I'd like to consider myself a fairly nice person, except for, If you're a BITCH to me, I'll only be one back. You piss me off, I'll piss you off. See the trend?! I mean I did grow up with the firm belief and teaching that I should treat others the way I'd want to be treated...I think maaayyybeee I got a little lost in translation so to speak. For example, while at work today I had a semi-regular customer, whom I prefer to refer to as the Wrinkled Witch! I mean seriously just an all around UNhappy person!! So long story short, at the store I work at you have the option to scan your store card and on occasion you get random FREE benefits, and today just happened to be her lucky day. Well as a customer you have the option, normally, to use it right then and there or save it for another time. Well as you just read, NORMALLY, means that sometimes the computer system we have automatically uses the credit right then, like it did today! We offered the WW a FREE drink coupon for the next visit attempting to rectify the situation. Buuut of course the bewildered old hag knew exactly how to do my job with never have being employed before herself. The story goes on and ending with the woman repeatedly telling me I was wrong and that she knew exactly what to do blah blah blah blah! I mean seriously she got TWO free, whatever-the-hell she wanted drinks and she STILL bitched and moaned, go figure, someone in America today complaining and only wanting/demanding MORE?! NEVER!!!

I could seriously write a tell-all sort of book about the life of not only a barista, but of ANYONE who's ever had to deal with terrible customers. (Would you be nicer to the person who checked you out at the grocery store after reading a book like that? Or would you still be the asshole that made it into the sequel? )

Well quickly moving along to my early evening fun of my toilet tank EXPLODING in my bathroom!! Yes ma'am, my toilet has been having issues for quite sometime now and to my dismay and the lack of care by apartment managers, it has finally resulted in the destruction of my toilet tank!
It was actually quite eventful and provided a substantial amount of entertainment in the process. So while watching some Tyra Banks show, lame I know, I started hearing some sort of leaking noise which quickly disappeared once the tele was muted. So no more thought went into it....until I decided to maybe go have a looksee. BAD idea!!!
I only go in to discover that my toilet bowl had runneth over and there was a 1/4in murkey SHIT water that had backed up THREE FLOORS to my apt. DELICIOUS!!
In the process of removing the tank lid and attempting to manually dump water from the toilet to tub, the shaking of the toilet caused my shelf above to come blazing down and crashed the entire tank shattered EVERYWHERE!!! Seriously?!

Well considering this is my first blog, I'm being EXTREMELY distracted by a number of things around me, this may or may not make sense to anyone who dare read it. But in due time there will be more and more and it'll all add up in one way or another! For the time being I shall come to a close and end this shenanigan of a blog! Farewell and until next time!
